NICKNAMES

It wasnt spring until Joe Leiner came into the post office with these tiny scented orange balls, from a plant in his yard. He called them "citrus trifoliata". They made the whole place smell like an orange grove.
His wife Lillian was always by his side. Lending a helping hand and laughing at all of his jokes.
They were a special couple in our town.

"Propaganda"...from the Phone Company

Mr Sam Lauder was one of my favourite people.

He called all of his  mail "Propaganda". He retired
from the Phone Company and loved Trains.
Often he would lend me videos of train rides through Colorado.
They were beautiful.
He was a very important  member of the St. Michaels Fire Department and our community.

MATT all grown up and handsome

The children waiting on the porch of the Post Office for the school bus.
They came running into the lobby with this breeze of carefree innocence and when the bus came and they were gone, the whole building had this terrible silence.
Be kind to children today, they will run OUR nursing homes someday.

The front porch of the post office is the place to catch up with old friends, find out who is sick or who is getting better, who has just had a baby or who has recently passed away.
 Ours is a caring community.
